Dear Grandmasters, Masters, Instructors, Coaches, Competitors and Spectators,
The World ITF Taekwon-Do Council is delighted to invite you all to participate in its first ever Online Open ITF Taekwon-Do Pattern World Championships.
This historic event will be held from 1st June to 24th July 2020 with the Championship Results being published on Saturday 25th July 2020.
For the first time ever, Taekwon-Do competitors from all over the World, from every club, regardless of their affiliation to any national or world organisation, can compete online to find the World’s best Pattern (Tul) athletes. This ground-breaking and historic event is open to all Juniors (5-17 years), Adults (18-34 years), Veterans (35-49 Years) and Veterans (50 years & over) who hold the ranks of Yellow Belt (8th Kup) to Black Belt (6th Degree).
For our participants, the venue is your choice. You can create your video presentation in your dojang, home, garden or public space, as long as the area is safe for you to perform your movements without risk to you or others.

INSURANCE
All participants should purchase their own personal insurance cover for their participation at the event.
DISCLAIMER & WAIVER
Taekwon-Do, as with other sports, has the risk of injury being sustained by the participants. By completing the application to participate at this Championship, all Adult and Veteran competitors, and all Parents/Guardians completing the application process on behalf of the junior competitors (6 -17 years), are accepting that they are fully aware that accidents and injury can happen at this type of event and agree not to hold the officials, or Championship organiser’s, responsible for any accidents or injuries that might happen. Please note also that the Organising Committee reserve the right to amend the schedule shown in this document where necessary to complete the Championship in the fairest and most efficient way. We also reserve the right to amend the event divisions in the interests of Fair Play and the smooth running of the event. The schedule and categories shown below will be implemented as printed and only amended under exceptional circumstances such where the quality and fairness of the competition will be improved.
REGISTRATION
All competitors will be required to register their details and upload their video presentation from 1st June 2020 to 19th July 2020.
PAYMENT
Payment for competitors should be made online via online registration at:

The online registration will require details such as name, date of birth, rank (belt) and address from each competitor.
All fees paid for entry to the event are non-refundable.
COMPETITOR FEES
The fee in GBP will be £35 or the equivalent in your own currency.
Payment can be made online until Closing Date for Registration on 19/7/20.
TOURNAMENT RULES, CATEGORIES & DIVISIONS
COMPETITORS – TAEKWON-DO UNIFORM (DOBOK)
All competitors should wear a suitable cotton or polycotton Taekwon-Do Dobok as worn in their clubs. Dobok’s must consist of full length trousers and tunic must have long sleeves. Club and organisation logos are allowed along with minimal sponsorship displayed via screen print or embroidery.
UMPIRES
All Umpires should have the rank of 1st Degree to 9th Degree Black Belt awarded from an ITF style organisation, having trained extensively and perfected the patterns created by the founder of Taekwon-Do, General Choi Hong Hi.
All Umpires will receive training in advance of the competition.
SCORING
A team of 5 umpires from different countries will give their scores for every competitor in the division they are judging. The 5 scores will be added. The top 3 scores will be awarded the Gold, Silver and Bronze medals with Gold awarded to the highest score, Silver to the second highest score and Bronze to the 3rd highest score.
In the event of a tie, the Umpire Committee will review the individual competitors video presentations and award a casting score. In the unlikely event of a further tie, each competitor will be awarded the same respective medal.
VIDEO PRESENTATION
For our participants, the venue is your choice. You can create your video presentation in your dojang, home, garden or public space, as long as the area is safe for you to perform your movements without risk to you or others.
Competitors must create a video with the following important regulations:
- To commence the presentation, all competitors must stand at attention and bow.
- Competitors must state clearly to the camera their name, age, rank and country.
- Competitors must state their choice of pattern and adopt the starting (ready) position.
- Competitors must perform the pattern. On completion, the competitor will shout the name of the pattern before returning to the starting (ready) position.
- To complete the presentation, all competitors must stand to attention and bow
VIDEO UPLOAD
We suggest the following process to ensure the highest level of video presentation
- Register to compete
- Choose then practice your pattern (Tul)
- Record your video and have your instructor review it and give you advice on how to improve
- Continue practicing, recording and working with your instructor
- Ensure that at all times the video shows the competitor from head to foot (very important)
- Upload your video when it is the very best presentation of your skills
PATTERN EVENT (TUL)
Pattern Area
The pattern area should be suitable for the competitor to perform their pattern without risk to their safety and others.
Video Presentation
Each competitor must upload 1 Optional Pattern which must be within the range of patterns described in each division.
Please ensure that at all times the video shows the competitor from head to foot (very important).

Divisions will be based on Gender, Age and Rank

The ‘WORLD CHAMPIONS’ title will be awarded to the Country with the most points accumulated.
